M is the iconic product of an unusual partnership between three masters of their crafts who shared a one goal: to create the world’s most complex whisky housed in an exquisite, specifically crafted crystal decanter. The Macallan and Lalique’s mastery of crystal brought M, a design masterpiece by creative director and well-known designer Fabien Baron, to life.

Each handcrafted M decanter combines proven history with uniqueness, drawing on over 150 years of Lalique craftsmanship and dedication in its refinement and exquisite clarity. Its six distinct sides pay respect to The Macallan’s Six Pillars, highlighting our deep established legacy at the heart of the decanter’s unique design ethos and the brilliant natural color of the whisky itself. This deep and strong whisky comprises Macallan distilled in 1940 and draws on some of the distillery’s richest and rarest casks aging. M provides a richness and luscious intensity rarely found in a single malt, with a deep rosewood color produced from the sherry seasoned Spanish oak casks that fostered this particular whisky through its maturing process.

TASTING NOTES

Color: Rosewood

Nose: Dried fruits ripen, then soften. Vanilla accompanies green apple hand in hand. Ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon create an ensemble in the background, with strong notes of polished oak and a depth of resinous, juicy oranges.

Palate: The palate opens rich in wood spices, slowly showing all their viscosity. Wood smoke flits in and out.

Finish: The heavier raisin and sultana flavours take over, meandering to a long full finish.
