From a bourbon cask, this Chichibu single malt was bottled in 2020.
The Chichibu distillery in Saitama, Japan, was the first of its sort in the country when it debuted in 2008. This is the country’s first new distillery since Suntory opened Hakushu in 1973. Ichiro Akuto, the famous Hanyu distillery’s founder’s grandson, was the creator of Chichibu. Ichiro’s Malt emerged in 2005 and rose to fame as a result of the bottling of Hanyu’s final barrels, particularly the coveted ‘Card’ series. The first Chichibu releases were issued under it in 2011.
La Maison du Whisky (LMDW) was founded by Georges Benitah in 1956, and it is now one of France’s largest whisky and rum importers and distributors, with a global reputation. They opened their first shop in Paris in 1968, at 20 Rue d’Anjou, and began importing Scotch malt whiskey in the 1970s. They’re famed for their expertise in not only Scotch but also Japanese whisky and rum, and their collaborative bottlings, as well as their own independent labels like this one, are in high demand.
